It was a hot and wet weekend of racing for the athletes of Triathlon Training with Amy.  First up Friday night with the annual Blessing of the Fleet 10 mile road race.  A notoriously hard race to run due to the time of day, humidity and heat from the road.  Jillian Schneider continues to race with speed and determination finishing 10th overall woman, 2nd in the 30-39 age group with a time of 1:09.00.  Lisa Garzilli placed 17th in the 40-49 age group in a time of 1:21:45, and Leslie Battle placed 20th. in the 40-49 age group with a time of 1:22:38.  It was a very hot and humid night as always at the Blessing.

On Sunday athletes towed the line in two different races.  At the Boston Triathlon, where the sky’s opened up and gave us the much needed rain,  Joy LaFreniere continued to dominate the aqua-bike division placing 2nd. overall woman in a time of 1:33:50.  Toby Bennett placed 9th in the 40-44 age group in a time of 2:28:51 in the olympic distance race.  Sophia Lafreniere, our up and coming junior placed 3rd in the 19 and under age group in the sprint race in a time of 1:26:00.

Back in Rhode Island Leslie Battle dominated the woman’s field in the Quonset Triathlon winning overall in a time of 1:08:56. congratulations to all the athletes. They continue to train hard and race harder!
